Albion, Mich. - The Alma College men's tennis team dropped its first match of the year 5-4 on Friday (Sept. 27) to Albion College despite three Alma singles victories and one doubles win.
Winners for the Scots included junior Brandon Ralston (Cadillac, Mich. / Cadillac). Ralston defeated his Albion opponent in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1. Also earning a straight-set victory for the Scots was sophomore Brendan Murdie (Novi, Mich. / Walled Lake Western) who won 6-1, 6-2. The other singles winner for the Scots was senior Brett Reuter (Armada, Mich. / Armada). Reuter dropped his first set 6-3 before coming back and defeating Toma Shngoo 6-2, 10-7.
In doubles competition, the Scots earned one victory and it came from Murdie and senior David Suidgeest (St, Johns, Mich /St. Johns). The pair won their match 8-3.
Up next for the Scots is a home match against Defiance College. It will begin at noon on Saturday (Oct. 5) at the Superior Street Tennis Courts.
