Men's Golf Begins Season at Lou Collins Invitational

Battle Creek, Mich. - The Alma College men's golf team finished tied for tenth place after Day 1 of the Lou Collins Invitational the Bedford Valley Country Club on Friday (Aug. 30) to begin the regular season.

In his first collegiate match, Andrew Curran (Byron Center, Mich. / Jenison High School) led the team with a 76 (+4). Senior Luke Lamoreaux (Sterling Heights, Mich. / Sterling Heights Stevenson) shot a career-low 80 (+8), while Tait Morrissey (Canadian Lakes, Mich. / Big Rapids) shot an 82 (+10), Eli Pinter (Muskegon, Mich. / Reeths-Puffer) shot an 83 (+11) and Trent Lashuay (Saint Johns, Mich. / Saint Johns High School) shot an 87 (+15). Logan Kirkey (Linden, Mich. / Linden) finished with a 92 competing as an individual.

Allegheny College is in first after one day of competition with 293 strokes (+5). Kalamazoo and Hope are tied for second with 297 strokes (+9); Trine and Albion follow at 300 (+12) and 305 (+17). Calvin sits in eighth with 312 strokes (+24) and the Scots are 14 strokes ahead of Olivet with 335 strokes (+47).

The Lou Collins Invitational continues on Saturday (Aug. 31) at 9:00 a.m.
