Scots Blitz Bulldogs in MIAA Action

Alma, Mich. - The Alma College volleyball team earned a conference victory over visiting Adrian College on Wednesday night (Oct. 16). The Scots easily defeated the Bulldogs, winning the best of five match 3-0. With the win, the Scots move to 4-2 in MIAA play and 14-8 overall. Adrian falls to 1-4 in the MIAA and 5-11 overall.

Alma won the first set handily 25-12. The Bulldogs pulled closer in set two but Alma once again came away with the win 25-18. In set three, the Scots and Bulldogs went back and forth until two Adrian errors allowed Alma to grab the momentum and come away with the victory by a final of 25-20.

Leading the Scots was reigning MIAA Player of the Week Sara Majerle (Rockford, Mich. / Rockford) with 19 kills and 12 digs. Also leading the Scots offensive attack was junior Haley Novak (Midland, Mich. / Bullock Creek) and senior Georgia Miller (Georgetown, Ky. / Scott County). Novak finished with seven kills and 29 assists, while Miller finished with seven kills and 13 digs. Freshman Natalie DelaColina (Chicago, Ill./Oswego) also had a double-digit dig total for the Scots, finishing with 11.

The Scots will travel to Northpark University to face the host Vikings and Governors State University on Saturday (Oct. 19). They will face Governors State beginning at 5:00 p.m., then Northpark at 7:00 p.m.
