Warsaw, Ind. - The Alma College men's tennis team opened up its Spring Break trip with a 6-3 win over Franklin College (IN) on Saturday (Feb. 24) at the Warsaw Racquet Club.
Alma (3-3 overall) swept the doubles matches, then posted victories at No. 2, No. 4 and No. 5 singles to snap its three-match slide.
How It Happened
- The No. 2 doubles team of Noah Ackerman and Brandon Ralston opened the match with an 8-2 win, while Luke Van Fleet and Tristen Fox posted an 8-5 victory at No. 1 doubles. Quinn Summerfield and Jadon House completed the sweep with an 8-1 victory at the No. 3 spot.
- In singles action, Alma captured three points with straight-set victories. Two of the other three competitions were decided in match tiebreakers. At No. 1 singles, Luke Van Fleet won the first set in a tiebreak before surrendering the second set and falling by a 10-6 margin in the match tiebreak.
- The No. 3 singles match went the distance after Tristen Fox won the opening set, 6-3, before dropping the second set by a 7-5 margin. In the match tiebreaker, Fox was outscored 11-9.
