Alma, Mich.- The Alma College men's tennis team suffered a 7-2 loss to Spring Arbor University on Tuesday (Feb. 20) in their first home contest of the season.
The Scots, now 2-3 overall, picked up a win in No. 5 singles and No. 1 doubles against the non-conference Cougars.
How It Happened
- The No. 1 singles team of sophomore BJ Schuette (Jenison, Mich./Jenison) and senior Luke Van Fleet (Rockford, Mich./Rockford) defeated their opponents Nick Romano and Jonah Engle 9-7 to open the match. The top-seeded team moves to a 2-3 record overall.
- Freshman Brandon Ralston (Cadillac, Mich./Cadillac) earned a victory in No. 5 singles, defeating Spring Arbor's Connor Mogle in a match tiebreaker, 1-6, 6-4, 11-9. Ralston moves to 3-2 overall on the season at No. 5 singles.
- Senior Noah Ackerman (Munising, Mich./Munising) fell in a close match at No. 3 singles, with each set going to a tiebreaker.
Up Next
The Scots will travel to Indiana and Ohio over spring break for a handful of non-conference matches to round out the month. They first take on Franklin College in Warsaw, Indiana on Saturday, February 24.
