Men's Tennis Tripped up Against Britons, 7-2

Alma, Mich. - The Alma College men's tennis team fell 7-2 to Albion College on Thursday (Oct. 4). Freshman Brenden Murdie (Novi, Mich. / Walled Lake Western) had earned both wins for the Scots on the day, the first being a 6-1, 6-1 triumph over Carter Moore and the second being an 8-3 win in doubles competition with junior David Suidgeest (St. Johns, Mich. / St. Johns) over Moore and Patrick Smoker.

Alma (1-2) saw two tight singles matches in the middle games: junior Jadon House (Brighton, Mich. / Brighton) went to the third set with Israel Trevino, falling 6-3, 6-7, 5-10 in the third singles match. Junior Sam Lindeman (Cedar Springs, Mich. / Cedar Springs) took Smoker to three sets in the fourth match, as well, dropping it 1-6, 7-6, 3-10.

In the other singles matches, sophomore Brandon Ralston (Cadillac, Mich. / Cadillac) lost 2-6, 2-6 to Josh McGarry, junior Brett Reuter (Armada, Mich. / Armada) dropped a two-set match to Robert Joerg 3-6, 1-6, and Suidgeest fell to Nick Kinachtchouk 2-6, 1-6.

In doubles, both teams of Ralston and Reuter and House and Lindeman fell 2-8.

This concludes the Fall portion of Alma's schedule. It will resume action on Saturday, March 30, with a conference match against Olivet at the Superior Street Tennis Courts. The match is set to start at 1:00 p.m.
