Men's tennis comes back to beat Albion, 5-4

Albion, Mich. - The Alma College men's tennis team brought down Albion College, 5-4, on Tuesday (April 11) for its first conference win of the season. Four Scots came away with wins in singles play at the Albion tennis courts, accompanied by one win in doubles as Alma snapped a four-match slide.

Senior Grant Hill (Caro, Mich./Caro) defeated his opponent in a close match at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 7-6 (14-12), while junior Noah Ackerman (Munising, Mich./Munising) along with freshmen Evan Vergith (Holly, Mich./Holly) and Jonathon Groening (Midland, Mich.) earned wins against the Brits.

The No. 3 team of Vergith and freshman Brett Reuter (Armada, Mich./Armada) came away with an 8-1 victory against their Albion opponents to earn an important point in the doubles matches.

The Scots, now 5-9 overall, will see action again on Friday, April 14, when they travel to Trine University. The match is set to begin at 2:00 p.m.
