Volleyball Set Back in Straight Sets at Saint Mary's

Notre Dame, Ind. - The Alma College women's volleyball fell in straight sets (22-25, 13-25, 13-25) to Saint Mary's College on Tuesday evening. Madison Smith (Westphalia, Mich./Pewamo-Westphalia), who owns the third best hit percentage in the conference (.319), led the Scots with six kills, Maressa Miller (Grand Blanc, Mich./Grand Blanc) led in assists with 11 and Dakota Pelach (Gaylord, Mich./Gaylord) led in digs with seven.

In the first set, Alma (6-4, 2-3 MIAA) used a 7-2 run to bring a deficit as big as six down to one to make it 22-21. However, the Belles (5-6, 2-2 MIAA) picked up three of the next four points to take the set.

Saint Mary's found similar success in the second and third sets, taking them both 25-13.

The Scots return to action on Friday when they travel to Adrian College to face the Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m.
