Box Score Alma, Mich. - The Alma College women's volleyball team was swept by St. Mary's College (20-25, 19-25, 24-26) at Art Smith arena on Friday night.
In the first two sets, junior Dakota Pelach (Gaylord, Mich./Gaylord) led the Scots (11-13, 6-7 MIAA) with five kills, followed by freshman Georgia Miller (Georgetown, Ky./Scott Country) with four. Senior Maressa Miller (Grand Blanc, Mich./Grand Blanc) led in assists with 10, and Georgia Miller led with seven digs in the first two sets.
The Scots came back in the third set, leading throughout most of it before falling to the Belles in a hard-fought finale, 24-26. Sasha Laykova (Ternopil, Ukraine/Forest Hills Northern) led the Scots with eight kills, followed by Pelach with her six total kills. Georgia Miller led in digs with 14.
The Scots return to action Saturday, October 22 when they play at home against the Adrian College Bulldogs at 2 p.m. on Senior Day.
