Volleyball Drops Two Matches to Finish UW-Oshkosh Invitational

Oshkosh, Wis. - The Alma College volleyball team fell in its final two matches at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Invitational on Saturday, 3-0 (17-25, 20-25, 19-25) to Carthage College and 3-1 (13-25, 11-25, 25-18, 15-25) to Edgewood College. Dakota Pelach (Gaylord, Mich./Gaylord) was named to the all-tournament team. She posted averages of six kills, 11 assists and six digs over four matches.

Sasha Laykova (Ternopil, Ukraine/Forest Hills Northern) was the team leader in kills and digs on the day with 15 and 19, respectively, while Pelach led in assists with 25 followed closely behind by Maressa Miller (Grand Blanc, Mich./Grand Blanc) who had 23.

In game two against Edgewood, Pelach was five kills and one assist away from her fifth triple-double of the season. She is currently tied for second in the country with four.

The Scots return to action on Friday, October 7 with the second round of MIAA play. Alma will host No. 6 Hope at 6:30 p.m., which it lost to 3-1 earlier this season.
