After a late night that saw the Alma College Volleyball team not able to get to sleep until the early morning, the squad was up bright and early to prepare for two more matches on Saturday. The Scots took on host Capital University (OH) in match one and defeated the home team 3-1 (25-10, 25-21, 20-25 and 25-16).

"Overall, this was a nice, challenging weekend for us," said Alma Head Coach Sarah Dehring. "We have a very tough week ahead of us and we learned a lot throughout the weekend about our strengths and weaknesses. We will continue to work on those weak areas in practice and understand our strengths to kick off this week of conference matches."

Against Capital, the Scots cruised to the relatively easy 15-point win in the first set and also two the second set by four points. The Crusaders however showed some fight and defeated the visitors by five points to cut their deficit to 2-1. But, Alma was not to be denied. They earned a hard-fought nine-point victory in the fourth set to wrap up the match win.

"We started off very strong both offensively and defensively this morning against Capital," remarked Dehring. "They adapted well to what we were doing and challenged both our attackers and defense."

In the Baldwin Wallace match, Alma won the first and third sets, while the Yellow Jackets took the second and fourth. That set up the deciding fifth set and the Scots were able to prevail with a close three-point victory.
