Alma Men's Tennis outlasted by Albion 6-3 at home on Tuesday

The Alma College Men's Tennis team got out and enjoyed the great weather on Tuesday, when they welcomed MIAA foe Albion College to campus for a match on the outdoor courts.  The Scots had some great individual performances on the afternoon, but fell to the Britons 6-3 at home.

With the loss, Alma drops to 7-7 on the season, with a 1-2 mark in the MIAA. Albion improves 6-7 overall and 1-2 in the conference after Tuesday's match.

"We played well at some flights, but just not well enough to pull out the close ones," said Alma Head Coach Chris Sandro. " We are hoping to get back on the winning side of the ledger tomorrow versus Calvin College."

The freshmen tandem of Grant Hill and Bryan Schutte were dominant in first position, claiming the 8-2 victory to put Alma on the board first.

Following a loss in position two,  the duo of Sr. Joshua Gove and So. Jared Guy won a highly-competitive 9-8 decision in third position, and the Scots headed into singles up 2-1.

Guy would secure the only singles victory for Alma in a three-set thriller (3-6,6-2,6-0), and the Scots would drop the match 6-3 in Alma.

The Scots return home tomorrow to take on Calvin College, in a match set to start at 4:00 p.m.
