The Alma College Men's Tennis team traveled Angola, IN to battle Trine University, and the elements, on Tuesday in a key MIAA matchup. In a match that had to be relocated indoors due to high winds in Indiana, the Scots fell to the Thunder 6-3 on Tuesday afternoon.
With the loss, Alma drops to 10-9 on the year and 2-3 in the MIAA. The Thunder close out the regular season with a 10-8 overall record and a 2-4 mark in conference play with win.
Following a loss in first doubles, the Scots rebounded with an 8-5 victory by seniors Logan Beard and Gordon Rumschlag to tie the score at 1-1.
The tandem of Sr. Joshua Gove and So. Jared Guy finished doubles with an 8-4 win, and Alma headed into singles with a 2-1 advantage.
At the conclusion of doubles, it was decided to move the match indoors because of extremely high winds.
The Scots struggled following the move indoors, dropping the first four singles matches.
At fifth position, Guy would be the only Alma player to score in singles, earning the 7-6,6-3 victory on Tuesday.
The Scots would drop the final singles match of the afternoon, to leave Angola with the 6-3 loss.
Alma wraps up the regular season tomorrow, April 23rd, when they travel to take on Kalamazoo in a match set for 4:00 p.m.
