Box Score Friday night brought the Alma College Volleyball team to Albion College for a MIAA match. The Scots defeated the Britons 3-0 (25-20, 25-20, 25-18) to improve to 3-3 in the league and 8-6 overall, while Albion is now 1-4 in the MIAA and 5-8 in 2013.
"I believe we had a total team effort tonight against Albion," said Alma Head Coach Sarah Dehring. "Everybody was able to play a part in the match, which was great. Now we have a few days off to get ready for Olivet next Wednesday."
In the first set, Alma jumped out to a 5-0 lead but Albion competed all the way through and six times cut their deficit to just one point, the last being 21-20. But, the Scots scored the final four points to earn the 25-20 victory.
The second set saw the Britons build an 11-5 advantage and still clung to a 17-16 lead later in the set. However, Alma scored seven straight points to take a 23-16 lead and rode that run to another 25-20 victory.
Again in the third set, Alma began with a 5-0 advantage and still led 12-8 before putting together a run that put the hometown Britons on their heels. Six straight points put the lead at 18-8 and the visitors were able to cruise from there, winning the set 25-18 and the match 3-0.
