Scots Baseball team took on Northwood University on Tuesday afternoon and lost 14-6

The Alma College baseball team traveled to Midland on Tuesday afternoon to take on Northwood University in a one nine inning non-league contest and lost a lead late, falling to the Timberwolves 14-6. With the loss, the Scots are now 11-25 on the season, while Northwood improved to 19-24 in 2012.

The Scots scored a run in the top of the first inning, while Northwood countered with two of their own in the bottom of the third. Alma struck back with three more in the fourth inning and took a 4-2 lead into the fifth. The Timberwolves scored three more in the next two innings and regained the lead at 5-4.

After the resilient visitors scored two in the top of seventh for a 6-5 advantage, the floodgates opened up against them as Northwood notched seven in the bottom of the frame and two more in the eighth to secure the final score of 14-6. 

Jr. 2B Matt Cresswell (St. Louis, Mich./St. Louis) went three for five for the Scots with three runs scored and an RBI, while Sr. IF Donny Lee (Mt. Pleasant, Mich./GRCC) finished four for five with two RBI's. Sr. P Micah Parshall (Benzie, Mich./Central) pitched six inning and gave up 10 hits and five earned runs. So. P Dan Johnson (Mancelona, Mich./Mancelona) took the loss by giving up four runs in no recorded innings pitched.

Alma next plays on Thursday afternoon when they play a doubleheader at MIAA foe Albion College.
