The Alma Men's Golf team opened up MIAA competition on Thursday afternoon when they finished second at the first league Jamboree. The squad shot a 327 at Medalist Golf Club, which was six strokes behind first place Trine University.
"We are very excited about the fact that we are sitting in the second place spot after the first jamboree," said Alma Head Coach Ryan Duckworth. "We had kids that did very well today and now we hope that some of that momentum will carry over to this Saturday, when we host Jamboree #2 at Pine River."
Fr. Marty Predmesky (Graham, N.C,/Graham) led the Scots with a score of 80, which tied for sixth overall. Jr. Charlie Vana (Holly, Mich./Holly) and Sr. Brian Rabedioux (Auburn, Mich./Bay City Western) were 17th with a mark of 82. Jr. Greg Silverthorn (Shepherd, Mich./Shepherd) was 20th with a score of 83, as the Scots used a balanced day to finish second.
The Scots will host the MIAA Jamboree #2 on Saturday at Pine River Country Club, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
