The men's golf team topped Thursday's second place finish with a win on Saturday as they hosted the second MIAA Jamboree of the season. The team combined for a course record of 289, knocking out the previous record of 291, which was set by Hope College in 2005.
The Scots were led by the sharp shooting of Fr. Marty Predmesky (Graham, NC), Sr. Brian Rabedioux (Auburn, MI/Bay City Western) and Jr. Charlie Vana (Holly, MI/Holly) who all medaled on the day with a score of 72. The foursome was completed by Jr. Greg Silverthorn (Shepherd, MI/Shepherd), who shot a respectable 73.
"I'm really proud of how the team competed today. After four or five holes, I could tell that everyone had the right focus to finish the round," said head coach, Ryan Duckworth. "They were hungry and shooting 289 is very good."
This win marks the first of Duckworth's career as a head coach. Duckworth's squad will compete again on Wednesday when they travel to Olivet to the third MIAA Jamboree of the season. The match begins at 1 p.m. at Bedford Valley Golf Course.
