The Alma College Volleyball team concluded the 2011 regular season this evening, when they traveled to Olivet and defeated the host Comets by a score of 3-0 (25-21, 25-12, 25-11). The win clinched third place for the Scots as they end up 11-5 in the MIAA and are now 19-8 overall, while Olivet is now 2-12 in the league and 4-21 in 2011.

After a weekend off, the Scots will play in the MIAA Semi-Finals next Friday with site, opponent and time still to be determined. 

In a match that was a dangerous one for the road team, Olivet came out flying in the first set and pushed the Scots to the limit, before falling 25-21. Alma buckled down after that and was able to defeat the Comets by the scores of 25-12 and 25-11 to come away with the 3-0 victory.

Statistically, Alma was led by Sr. MH Shelby Gray (Orchard Lake, Mich./West Bloomfield) and So. MH Lea Klooster (Jenison, Mich./Jenison), who had 14 and 11 kills respectively. In addition, Jr. S Kelsee Miles (Hanover, Mich./Hanover-Horton) paced the Scots with 33 assists and 12 digs in the win.
