Box Score Alma College Volleyball returned home on Wednesday for a match against Albion College, and the Scots came away with the 3-0 victory (25-11, 25-13, 25-14) at Art Smith Arena. The win improved Alma to 8-4 in the league and 14-6 overall, while the Britons are now 0-11 in the MIAA and 3-16 in 2011.
The Scots enjoyed a very complete team victory against Albion and Head Coach Sarah Dehring used 15 players during the three set match. This allowed many different players to contribute to the win and it showed in the final team stats.
Sr. MH Shelby Gray (Orchard Lake, Mich./West Bloomfield) led the way with 12 kills, but nine other players got into the action as well. Next was So. MH Lea Klooster (Jenison, Mich./Jenison) with nine and So. OH Kelly Maise (Northville, Mich./Northville) with five.
In assists, So. S Erika VanHavel (Mason, Mich./Mason) paced the Scots with 25, while Jr. S Kelsee Miles (Hanover, Mich./Hanover-Horton) finished next with 13. Sr. DS Erica Adams (Milford, Mich./Milford) led Alma with 12 digs, with Maise close behind with 11 on the evening.
The Scots will next play on Friday in the Midwest Challenge tournament in Grand Rapids. The games will be at Calvin College and Alma will take on #10 Carthage (Wisc.) at 5:00 p.m. and then will face Millikin (Ill.) at 7:00 p.m.
Alma will return home for Senior Night 2011, on Tuesday, when they host Saint Mary's College at Art Smith Arena. The match is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.
