Alma Volleyball Wins the Bishop Invitational at Ohio Wesleyan

The Alma Volleyball team traveled to Ohio Wesleyan this weekend to take part in the Bishop Invitational Tournament. The Scots came away with four victories to capture the Championship and will now take that momentum into their MIAA opener at Kalamazoo on Tuesday, September 7.

"We are so fired up after this tournament and it was so cool for us to come away with the championship," said Alma Head Coach Cheyenne Luzynski. "We played hard, smart and we controlled the action. We definitely have areas to improve on, but I believe we have our systems in place, our confidence is high, and I believe we are ready for league play."

Sr. S Hannah Hewitt (Harbor Springs, MIHarbor Light Christian) was named Most Valuable Player for the tournament, while Jr. MH Shelby Gray (Orchard Lake, MI/West Bloomfield) was named to the All-Tournament team.

Match 1: Alma defeats Wilmington 3-0 (25-10, 25-10, 28-16) Box

Match 2: Scots defeat Goshen 3-1 (28-30, 25-18, 28-26, 25-12) Box

Match 3: Alma defeats Transylvania 3-1 (25-22, 25-14, 23-25, 25-18) Box

Championship: Alma defeats John Carroll 3-0 (25-17, 25-17, 25-22) Box

Tournament MVP: Hannah Hewitt
