The Alma Volleyball team hosted Trine University on Tuesday evening in the first round of the MIAA Tournament, 3-0 (25-20, 25-23, 25-23), and will now play Calvin College in the Semi-Finals on Friday at 5:30 p.m. That game will be played at Hope College, as the Flying Dutch are the #1 seed of the tournament.
The victory improved Alma's 2010 record to 18-11, while the Thunder concluded their season with a final mark of 10-19.
"You are always happy to win a playoff match and we certainly are tonight," said Scots Head Coach Cheyenne Luzynski. "We didn't necessarily play our best, but I am very proud of our girls and we won 3-0 to advance. We are excited to play Calvin on Friday evening at Hope and we will give it our all to get a win and advance to the Championship."
It was Senior Night 2010 forS Hannah Hewitt (Harbor Springs, MI/Harbor Light Christian) and OH Stephanie Bradshaw (Livonia, MI/Churchill), and they both came to play. Hewitt had a team-high 33 assists, while Bradshaw finished with 26 digs to lead the Scots to a playoff victory.
