Alma Volleyball bounces back to defeat Saint Mary's 3-0 (25-8, 25-19, 25-11), clinches first round home playoff match

Scots Volleyball took to the road on Saturday at Saint Mary's and came away with a 3-0 victory (25-8, 25-19, 25-11) over the host Belles. Alma improved to 15-10 overall in 2010 and 10-3 in the MIAA, while SMC fell to 2-11 in the league and 4-18 for the season.

"In my tenure here at Alma, we had not won at Saint Mary's, so today was satisfying in that manner," said Scots Head Coach Cheyenne Luzynski. "We had a very emotional match yesterday at home against Hope and I was pleased at how we performed today. We came out strong in the first game, got a bit on our heels in the second, but took care of things to win the match."

In the win, Sr. S Hannah Hewitt (Harbor Springs, MI/Harbor Light Christian) had 34 assists and 11 digs, while Jr. MH Shelby Gray (Orchard Lake, MI/West Bloomfield) had a team-high 11 kills.

Sr. OH Stephanie Bradshaw (Livonia, MI/Churchill) had 23 digs on Saturday, while Fr. MH Lea Klooster (Jenison, MI/Jenison) finished with 10 kills and five digs.

Today's win ensures the Scots of a home game in the first-round of the MIAA playoffs that will begin on November 2 at Art Smith Arena. Alma next plays on Wednesday, when they travel to Albion, to take on the Britons in an MIAA contest.
