The Alma 2009 Volleyball team began play Friday night at the Mt.Union Invitational and came away with two victories. The Scots defeated Case Western 3-0 in the first match (25-22, 25-21, 25-16) and finished the evening with a 3-0 victory (25-16, 26-24 25-21) over Defiance in the nightcap.

 "I thought we came out with a strong defensive approach against Case and our offense controlled the net," said Alma Head Coach Cheyenne Luzynski. "As we move into tomorrow, knowing that we will be playing in the top bracket, we have to play smart and when we play Mt. Union, we know they have a different style. This is a great experience for our young team and will be something we can build on moving forward. 

Coach Luzynski signaled out Shelby Gray and Hannah Hewitt for their efforts on Friday, but made it clear it was a team effort. She was very excited about the play of the younger players and is eager to see how it progresses on Saturday.
