SCOTS VOLLEYBALL DROPS MATCH AT #10 CALVIN 3-1 (24-26, 25-13, 25-15, 25-18)

Alma's Volleyball team traveled to Grand Rapids on Friday evening to take on the #10 Calvin College Knights in a big MIAA tilt. The Scots won the first game 26-24, but dropped the next three (13-25, 15-25, 18-25) to lose the match 3-1. Alma is now 6-8 on the season (3-3 MIAA), while Calvin improved to 10-3 (5-0) in 2009.

For the Scots, Shelby Gray led the way with 10 kills, while Becca Ratkov added seven for the visitors. Hannah Hewitt notched 36 assists and 13 digs for Alma, while Stephanie Bradshaw recorded 22 digs. Erica Adams added seven digs for the Scots on the evening.

Calvin was led by reigning MIAA Player of the Year in So. Rebecca Kamp, who had 18 kills for the nationally ranked Knights. Nora Bruskewitz led Calvin with 43 assists in the home victory.

Alma continues the MIAA schedule on Saturday, when they play host to Trine University at Cappaert Gymnasium. The Thunder come in with a 9-5 overall record and 3-2 in league play. Match start time is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
