Alma's Volleyball team traveled to Kalamazoo College on Friday evening and ran into a fiesty Hornets squad that pushed the Scots to the limit. Alma won the match 3-2 (17-25, 25-13, 11-25, 25-20, 15-13), but it was not easy. With the win, the Scots are 15-10 overall (9-4 MIAA), while the Hornets drop to 10-14 in 2009 and 4-8 in the league.
Katie Bourbonnais had 14 kills for the visiting team, while Shelby Gray added 13, while 11 was the magic number for Kelsey Thompson and Beth Caldwell. Hannah Hewitt led the squad with 45 assists on the evening.
The Scots continue play tomorrow, as they host league foe Calvin College in a 3:00 p.m. match at Cappaert Gymnasium. It is Senior Day and Parents Day 2009 for Alma as the team will recognize the efforts of Kelsey Thompson and all the parents that make this possible.
