The Alma Women's Volleyball team hosted MIAA rival Kalamazoo College on Thursday evening and came away with a hard-fought 3-2 victory at Cappaert Gymnasium.
After falling behind 0-2 by scores of 16-25 and 20-25, the Scots stormed back and won the next three games 25-21, 25-16 and 15-11 to record the win and improved to 8-2 in the MIAA and 16-6 overall.
MH Kim Gillhespy (Cedar Springs, MI) led the Scots with 25 kills and three blocked shots, while S Hannah Hewitt (Alanson, MI) had 55 assists, DS Katie Porter (Cheboygan MI) contributed 22 digs and OH Beth Caldwell (Imlay City, MI) added 11 kills.
The Scots next play on Saturday when they travel to Olivet College to play two league games in one day - 11:00 a.m. against the host Comets and then at 1:00 p.m. against the Belles of St. Mary's. The next home match for Alma will be on October 18, when the Scots host Trine University, beginning at 4:00 p.m. at Cappaert Gymnasium.
