Box Score After starting the season on a good note under new Head Coach Cheyenne Luzynski, the Scots had been on a nine game losing slide before breaking out of it on Wednesday with a big win over Olivet College, 3-1.
The Scots dominated the first to games, winning 30-17 and 30-23, before dropping the third 24-30. The young Alma team could have let up and let Olivet back into the match, but they showed poise and came back with a strong 30-22 game four, bringing home the victory for the Scots.
Leading the way for the Scots were a trio of freshman. Hannah Hewitt (Alanson/Harbor Light) did an outstanding job distributing the ball all match and ended with 26 assists and five digs. Stephanie Bradshaw (Livonia/Churchill) has been coming on strong after starting the season with the j.v. squad and played well in the win, piling up 12 kills and 18 digs. Finally, Kelsey Erwin (Fenton/Fenton) did a great job handling the ball, racking up 16 assists and eight digs.
The win was a much needed one for the Scots and hopefully will put them back on the right track as they head into action this Saturday at Albion College with a match set to start at 1:00 p.m.
