ALMA, Mich. - Alma College volleyball fell to 3-3 on the season and 1-1 in MIAA games with a 3-1 loss to Calvin College. Calvin remains undefeated on the season, maintaining a 7-0 record overalll and a 3-0 mark in MIAA games.
The Scots forced Calvin to 35-33 in the first game while Calvin won handily in game two, 30-18. The Scots rallied back in the third game, defeating the Knights 31-29 but Calvin finished off the Maroon and Cream in the fourth game with a 30-20 win to give them their seventh win of the season.
For the Scots, Kaylee Sova (Freeland) had 17 kills, bolstering her MIAA Player of the Week title while Becky Bruning (Rogers City) added 12 kills. Freshman Kelsey Thompson (Morley/Morley-Stanwood) led in hitting percentage with a mark of .409. Defensively, Kelsee Krull (Midland/Dow) had 24 digs and Sova added 21 while Mary Murdoch (Holland/West Ottawa) had 45 assists against the Knights.
Alma returns to competition this weekend when it travels to the Wittenberg Tournament.
