Alma Pushes Bulldogs To Five Games in Friday Night Victory

ALMA, Mich. - Alma College volleyball improved to 9-10 on the season and 6-5 in MIAA play with a 3-2 win against Adrian College at Cappaert Gymnasium this evening.

Alma won the first game 30-25 before dropping the next two games by scores of 29-31 and 24-30. But the Scots stormed back, reversing game three's score in their favor, 30-24. In the fifth game, Alma won 15-12.

The Scots were led by Kaylee Sova (Freeland) with 23 kills while Becky Bruning (Rogers City) had 22 kills. Mary Murdoch (Holland/West Ottawa) had 56 assists while Kelsee Krull (Midland/Dow) led the team with 46 digs. Sova chipped in with 31 digs of her own in a strong defensive performance while Kelsey Thompson (Morley/Morley-Stanwood) had five block assists and Kim Gillhespy (Cedar Springs) added three blocks solo.

Alma returns to action tomorrow with a full day of volleyball action against Tri-State and Olivet.
