HOLLAND, Mich. - The Alma College volleyball team suffered a setback Friday night with an MIAA match at Hope College, 3-2. Alma falls to 5-2 in the MIAA and 5-13 overall with the loss.
The Scots jumped to an early lead with a 30-22 game win before the Flying Dutch took games two and three, 22-30 and 20-30. The Scots rebounded to win a critical game four, 30-27 before leaving the door open for the Dutch as the Scots dropped the fifth and final game, 13-15.
The Scots were led by Mary Murdoch (Holland/West Ottawa) with 50 assists and 19 digs while Kelsee Krull (Freeland) had 23 digs on the evening. Erin Fralick (Petoskey) and 14 kills and two block assists while Betsy Bulthuis (Spring Lake) contributed with an even attack - nine digs, two solo blocks and three block assists.
The Scots enjoy a free weekend before returning to action Oct. 5 against Olivet on the road.
