ALMA, Mich. - Alma College volleyball dropped its first game of the 2004 season in the MIAA Tournament finals Saturday evening (Nov. 6). The Scots headed into the match one of just six undefeated teams in the NCAA across all Divisions.
Calvin College (27-8, 14-2 MIAA) started off the match with a 30-25 victory to jump to an early advantage. The Scots came back to even things up with a 30-28 win in game two. The Maroon and Cream dropped the next two matches to lose their first game of the season to fall to 33-1 on the year.
Senior Kristin Judson (Frankenmuth) led the team with 28 digs and 18 kills along with teammate Erin Fralick (Petoskey) who chipped in 13 kills. Senior Lindsey Baker (Chelsea) contributed 55 assists.
With the victory, Calvin claims the MIAA Tournament Championship and an automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament. Alma must now wait for the at-large announcement tomorrow (Nov. 7).
