ALMA, Mich. – The Alma College men's soccer program withstood a steady light rain and a physical Wittenberg squad (five combined yellow cards) to earn its third shutout win of the year and improve to 4-0 at home, beating the Tigers 2-0 on Senior Day.
The Basics:
- Records
- Alma (5-2, 0-0 Michigan)
- Wittenberg (3-1-3, 0-0 North Coast)
- Winning Streak
- Scots (W1) / Tigers' Last Win: September 20, 2025 (4-0)
How It Happened:
Alma doubled up the visitors six shots to three in the first 45 minutes and tripled their corner kick output (3-1), getting a pair of on-target attempts off with
Anthony Mirolli scoring via the assist from senior
Mason Breitschuh in the 17th minute.
Wittenberg put some pressure on the Scots coming out of the halftime locker room, putting together seven shots including all three of their shot-on-goal attempts in the match, but AC upped its intensity as well with
Cayden Brummels' 80th minute score off the pass from
Fabinho Vasco effectively ended any comeback hopes for WU.
Scots' Top Performers:
The senior goalkeeping duo of
Bradshaw Uhlmann and
Landon Soule split the duties evenly to preserve the combined clean sheet as the former improved to a perfect 3-0 in 2026 while the latter collected all three of the Scots' saves. Mirolli upped his season goal total to five and registered his first career game-winner in the process whereas Brummels' score was his second of the season, third as a collegian. Regarding the assisters, Breitschuh tallied his first helper since 2024 and second as a Scot while Vasco has moved into a three-way tie for the team lead with his third, fifth of his Alma tenure.
Cristian Cepeda was one of two players with a trio of shots for Newby's men,
Cullen MacKay garnered a SOG plus
Jack Lemerand alongside seniors
Kaiden Link and
Christopher Jacobi all got shots away.
