Orlando, FL – Alma College Tennis opened the 2026 spring season on Thursday afternoon. The Scots took on St. John Fisher, with the women winning 7-0 and the men falling 6-1.
For the women, doubles play opened with a trio of 6-0 wins.
Karly Kushner and
Leah Wronikowski won at #1,
Holly Hall and
Jada Zerlaut won at #2, and
Kayden Alli and
Izzy Troost were victorious at #3. The Scots took the doubles point.
In singles play, Kushner won 6-1, 7-5 at #1. At #2, Wronikowski won 6-1, 4-6, 10-5, with Zerlaut winning 6-3, 6-2 at #3. Scores of 6-3, 6-0 saw Hall victorious at #4, and Troost won 6-2, 6-1 at #5. Rounding things out at #6,
Sophia Hauffe won 6-1, 6-0. The Scots wound up 7-0 winners in the game.
On the men's side, the #1 doubles pairing of
Jake Lasceski and
Ashton Trnka lost 6-2. The #2 team of
Alex Jonas and
John Laxton lost 6-3. At #3, the duo of
Christian Beyers and
Eli Festerling won 6-3. SJF took the doubles team point.
In singles play, Lasceski lost 3-6, 7-5, 6-10 at #1. At #2, Trnka fell 6-1, 6-1, and Festerling was defeated 2-6, 6-3, 4-10 at #3. The #4 game saw Beyers go down 6-1, 6-3. Alma's lone win in the contest came courtesy of
Jacob McNew at #5, with the scores at 6-1, 6-2. Rounding things out at #6,
Daniel Hickey was defeated 3-6, 6-3, 6-10.
The Scots are back in action tomorrow, taking on Concordia Wisconsin and Cornell.
