PEARL, Miss. – Continuing their spring break trip games, the Alma College baseball team took the field against the 11th ranked Belhaven University Blazers on Wednesday, March 4th at Trustmark Field. The Scots and Blazers were at a scoreless deadlock through four until the Blazers erupted for nine runs and defeating the Scots 13-1 in seven innings. 

Both teams were held off the scoreboard through five and a half innings as pitchers were dealing and keeping hits to a premium. The bottom of the fifth is where the 11th ranked team in the nation found their stride and found success at the plate. Belhaven placed runners on base and notched nine runs in the inning to take the games first lead.

Alma responded with their lone run of the game in the sixth as Kaden Warren singled and advanced to third after a wild pitch and a Justin Diaz single as well. Charlie Chmielewski grounded out, allowing for Warren to score, in hopes of kick starting the offense. Belhaven's offense continued to work adding another four runs in the bottom of the inning, giving them theirn13 runs for the game. 

William Fockler started in the mound for just over three innings while recording five strikeouts. Tommy Ches, Josh West Tyler Lasley, Roman Forcia and Hayden Ruff all saw action on the bump as well, as West picked up the loss, his first of the season. 

Alma will look to rebound in a rematch against Millsaps College, tomorrow, March 5th, again at Twenty Field before heading to Alabama for the rest of the trip. First pitch against the Majors is scheduled for 4:00 PM CT / 5:00 PM ET.
