BELOIT, Wis. – Returning to the road for their spring break games, the Alma College men's lacrosse team opened their week with a trip to Beloit College for a Saturday matinee with the Buccaneers. The Scots scored first in the game, but the Buccaneers got the last goals as they pulled past the Scots with a final score of 10-3.
Alma opened the scoring in the first minute of the game with a goal from Jackson Pollard, giving Alma their first lead of the game. Beloit responded with a goal of their own, tying the game six minutes later. Alma again regained the lead with a goal from Elias Rakoczy as time winded down in the first with just over a minute remaining. Beloit tied the game just twenty second later, but the scoring was not done for the first quarter. With one second remaining on the clock in the first frame, the Scots Nolan O'Dea scored off an assist from Rakoczy, giving the Scots the lead heading into the second, 3-2.
Beloit would ultimately take control of the game from the start of the second quarter until the finish scoring the next eight goals unanswered with two coming in the second, two in the third and four in the fourth for a final score of 10-3.
Rakoczy led the Scots in scoring with a goal and an assist while Cuyler Fielhauer led the Scots with six shots on goal. Fielhauer and Rakoczy each scooped up four ground balls for the team lead while defensemen Cameron O'Bryan led the Scots with a career-high five caused turnovers.
Alma will return to Wisconsin for a spring break trip game against Marian University on Friday, March 6th. Faceoff against the Sabres is set for 1:00 PM CT / 12:00 PM ET in Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin.
