Â
How It Happened:
The visitors from Grand Rapids ran the entirety of its offense through just two men, Jareth Balcarez-Alvarado and Fikret Hasovic, who scored all eight points for the Saints.
Balcarez-Alvarado broke the seal as the clock began the 28th minute off the pass from Hasovic, the duo flipped the script with the former recording the goal off the latter's assist, and then Balcarez-Alvarado gave Aquinas a two-score cushion with a PK at the 57:03 mark.
Â
Gavyn Moore ignited a spark for the Scots coming out of the halftime locker room, booming home the Alma XI's solitary goal of the day only 66 seconds into the second half, courtesy of a helper from
Anwar Filali Baba.
Â
Overall, the Scots and Saints were evenly matched in the stat sheet with AQ tallying two more shots-on-goal (5-3) and three more corners (10-7) but was negated in part by a large foul count (17-12) and broke even in total shots (11-11).
Â
Scots' Top Performers:
Moore found the back of the net for the fourth time in his career and third of 2026 while Filali Baba will remember Friday fondly despite the scoreboard as the assist marked his first point at the collegiate level.
Â
Mason Horwath and Raul Lopez were the two players with multiple shots taken as Horwath placed one on-target whereas Lopez did not, the other SOG came from the foot of
Kaiden Link.
Â
Putting a dent in the stat sheet on offense were
Cristian Cepeda,
Jack Lemerand,
Asher Clark,
Anthony Mirolli, and
Luis Parra Jr, all notching a shot attempt apiece.
