Alma, MI – Alma College Softball welcomed in nationally ranked Trine University on Friday evening for an MIAA doubleheader. Alma was felled by finals of 8-0 in a pair of shortened games.
In game one, Trine made it onto the scoreboard in the 2
nd inning, with a pair of home runs doing most of the damage in a six-run inning. The Thunder tacked on two more runs in the 3
rd. The Scots were held off the scoreboard, notching a pair of base hits in the loss.
Julia Duncan and
Jenna Holzinger grabbed the base knocks for the Scots, and
Jordyn Porter drew a walk.
Morgan Westall pitched 4.0 innings, striking out four.
Bella Treloar pitched 1.0 inning in relief.
The visitors scored in the 1
st inning of game two, with a bases loaded walk opening the scoring. Trine added three more runs with an RBI single and a sac fly. Two home runs in the 3
rd saw the Thunder add three more runs, and a 5
th inning RBI double ended the game.
Morgan Brandau and
Reneigh Sandmann each grabbed a base hit in the loss.
Mikaylyn Kenney pitched 2.1 innings in the game, striking out one.
Bella Treloar pitched 1.2 innings in relief.
Alma is back at it on the 24
th as they welcome Hope College.
