ANGOLA, Ind. – The Alma College track and field teams competed at the MIAA Indoor Field Day at Trine University on Saturday, March 1st. The Scots had a very solid showing including a MIAA Champion on the women's side.
Starting with the women, Lauren Brawt brought in the first top ten finish as she placed sixth in the 400-meter race with a time of 1:01.32. Jordan Fox finished ninth overall in the 800-meter race with a time of 2:25.75. Helena scored her first top ten finish in the 60-meter hurdles as she finished eighth with a time of 9.90. Snyder then finished atop the podium for the conference in the high jump as she cleared the mark of 1.58 meters, which crowned her the champion for the conference. Lauren McCarthy finished ninth in the pole vault competition as she cleared 2.91 meters, followed by Brawt collecting a tenth-place finish in the long jump with a mark of 4.92 meters. Julia Haggart finished tenth in the women's shot put with a throw of 10.56 meters to round out the women's side.
For the men, Aiden Aldrich continued to piece together a very solid freshman season as he collected a seventh-place finish in the 200-meter race with a time 22.90. Aldrich then finished in third-pace for the 400-meter run, with a personal best time of 50.46, lowering his school record time once again. In the field events, Ed Markarian nabbed a tenth-place finish in the long jump with a mark of 6.10 meters as well as securing a sixth-place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 12.58 meters.
Alma will now look towards several last chance meets in hopes of send some individuals to the National Championship to compete with the division's top talent. More information regarding the last chance meets should be available on the schedule as they approach.
