ALMA - Mich. - The Alma College Men's Basketball team dropped the game to #7 Trine University at
Art Smith Arena on Saturday afternoon. Alma shot the ball well from behind the arc but could not keep up with the scoring of the Thunder.
Trine would open the game with a quick 4-0 lead. Alma would then respond with two three pointers of their own on back-to-back possessions to take the lead. The Thunder would go on an 8-0 run to push their lead to 12-6 at the 15:32 mark. Trine would find another 9-2 run to help extend their lead to 10, leaving the score as 37-27 going into half time.
Alma would start strong in the second half, cutting the lead to 39-34 after a quick 7-2 run powered by a Josh Elliot three pointer. Trine would respond with an 8-2 run of their own to re-open the game. The Scots attempted another rally, narrowing the margin to 55-49 with 10:32 remaining behind
Donovan Collins' hot three-point shooting. Collins ultimately would put up 21 points with seven three pointers. Trine would ultimately take control for goof with a decisive 12-3 run over the next four minutes to push the lead to 15. Trine remained composed and finished the game with a final score of 81-67.
The Scots offensive attack was built behind the shooting of
Donovan Collins and Josh Elliot.
Jeremy Rosario contributed an inside presence with 8 points and 9 rebounds as well. Aiden Judsen and
Joss Bradley both provided major contributions off the bench. Judsen had 7 points, 2 assists, and 2 blocks. Bradley had 5 points, 3 rebounds, and a steal. Alma showed resilience and had strong moments during the game, particularly with their three-point shooting. The Scots would ultimately shoot 38.7% on a large volume (12 for 31).
The Scots will look to regroup and build on their improved offensive rhythm in their next matchup. Alma will be travelling to Kalamazoo College on Wednesday, February 12th. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
