Women's Basketball Falls to Kalamazoo in Home Finale

Alma, MI – Alma College Women's Basketball welcomed Kalamazoo College in for the penultimate game of the 2024-25 regular season. Alma was defeated by the Hornets, 75-62.
 
Kalamazoo took advantage of hot shooting to put Alma in a hole early, leading 6-1 in the opening minutes. The visitors led 12-6 with 5:42 to play in the opening period. The Scots pulled Kzoo to within one at 14-13, but wouldn't manage to take the lead in the game. K led 18-14 after one quarter. A pair of made threes gave Kalamazoo a 10-point lead to open the second quarter. The Hornets kept coming, refusing to miss from downtown en route to a 17 point gap with 5:04 to play in the first half. Alma did well to limit the damage in the closing minutes of the quarter, and got the deficit to 13 points, trailing 40-27 at halftime.
 
Out of the locker room, Alma scored the first four points, cutting the Kzoo lead to 9 at 40-31. The Scots continued to chip away, getting within eight at 43-35, and then to within five halfway through the quarter. However, the Hornets survived the lunge from Alma, leading 54-46 after three. The Scots opened the fourth quarter with a made three, but saw Kzoo go on a 13-0 run to effectively blow the game open. Despite the best efforts of Alma, they were held at bay, falling 75-62.
 
Emmerson Goodin (14 points, 4 rebounds) Breckyn Werner (11 points, 4 rebounds, 2 blocks) and Brooke LeRoux (9 points, 10 rebounds, 2 steals) were the key contributors in the loss.
 
Alma looks to Saturday, when they close the regular season at Hope.
