Men's Wrestling Drops Second MIAA Dual to Albion

ALBION, Mich. – The Alma College men's wrestling team returned to the road for their first conference dual away from home of the season, facing off against the Albion College Britons. The Scots were defeated by the Britons to a score of 40-12.

Jushawn Ferrell Jr opened up the MIAA dual taking the mat against Benito Tinaj in the 125-weight division. Ferrell Jr was able to find his offense and take down Tinaj and pin him in 3:24 time. Following the win by fall, Alma took a 6-0 lead. The Britons then responded by taking the next four bouts, two by technical fall, one by fall and the 157 match by decision where Calvin Huggler was narrowly beat, 4-1. In the 165 match, Rodrick Love got to work early and made his presence known. Love was able to pin Peyton Brooks in just 47 seconds, scoring six points for the Scots. The remaining matches would ultimately go the way of the Britons, bringing the final score to 40-12, dropping the Scots to 0-2 in MIAA play.

The Scots will now have five days before returning to the mat back in Art Smith Arena to face off against The University of Olivet for Senior Night. The matches are set to begin at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, January 28th.
