LeRoux Scores Career High 32, Ties Three Point Record in WBB Win

Notre Dame, IN – Alma College Women's Basketball continued MIAA conference play on Saturday when they traveled to Indiana to take on Saint Mary's. Alma was victorious by a final of 75-61.

The Scots scored on their opening possession, courtesy of a Brooke LeRoux three pointer. Alma jumped out to a 10-2 lead, only for the hosts to climb back into the game throughout the quarter. The Belles fought hard to not let Alma get away, even taking a lead at 19-17. That lead was short lived however, as a last second three from LeRoux gave Alma the lead for good at 20-19 after one quarter.

The visitors started the second quarter with a trio of LeRoux triples to jump out in front by 10. The Scots got ahead by 12 before SMC could score a bucket. The Belles dropped the gap to eight, but Alma pulled away with another late scoring barrage to lead 41-26 at halftime.

Scoring was fairly even coming out of the halftime break. The teams had a steady 11 to 14 point gap between them, with the hosts doing just enough to keep Alma from getting too comfortable. The Scots continued to find ways to score, allowing for a 17-point margin to form after three quarters, with Alma leading 54-37.

The fourth quarter was high scoring but slow paced. The foul count racheted up, and the teams combined to shoot 22 free throws. An early Belles push dropped the gap to 12, but the Scots slammed the door shut, and pulled out a 75-61 win.

Brooke LeRoux scored a career high 32 points, and became the second Scot this season to tie the single game three point record with eight makes from downtown in the win. Emmerson Goodin (12 points, 10 rebounds) secured and double-double, and Molly Deurloo (9 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists) rounded out the key contributors in the victory.

The Scots snap a four game losing skid, and are back in action at home on Saturday, taking on nationally ranked Hope College.
