Alma, MI – Alma College Men's Soccer earned a decisive 4-1 victory over Great Lakes Christian College on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at Scotland Yard.

The Scots struck early, with Ethan Vollstedt scoring just one minute into the game off an assist from Mateo Cianci. This goal is Vollestedt's third goal in four matches from the attacking midfield position. Alma maintained control throughout the first half, doubling their lead in the 24th minute when Cianci found the back top corner of the net. The Scots pulled some trickery with a well ran set piece routine that provided Felipe Soto and Tatenda Mukudu with assists on Cianci's goal. Cianci adds to his team lead in points, now totaling 9. Christian Sweis scored in the 43rd minute, leaving the Scots with a 3-1 lead going into halftime.

Alma's offensive attacking continued into the second half. In the 87th minute, Ryker Anderson sealed the win with a goal assisted by Mason Breitschuh, bringing the final score to 4-1. The Scots fired 28 shots with 13 on target, while the Crusaders managed 6 with 5 on target. Alma's goalkeeper Leandro Vargas made 4 saves, earning him his first win of the 2024 campaign.
