Shepherd, MI – Alma College Cross Country opened their 2024 season on Friday at the Jeff Drenth Invitational. The Scots women placed 5
th out of 7 complete teams. Alma's men placed 6
th of 6 complete teams.
On the women's side,
Melanie Werner was the Scots top finisher, placing 71
st overall in her collegiate debut with a 21:04.
Lauren Brawt finished 7 seconds later to place 73
rd. Close behind was Sophia Dech, who finished 74
th in 21:18.
Chloe Colton was on her tail in 21:20 in 75
th. Rounding out the top 5 for Alma was
Sophia Sanford, who finished 80
th in 22:04.
For the men,
Nolan Woodman was Alma's top finisher, finishing 4 seconds outside of Alma's Top 21 list for the 5k. Woodman placed 69
th with a 17:22. 6 seconds behind him was
Will Maginity, who placed 71
st.
Aiden Aldrich came home in 76
th, clocking a 17:54.
Noah Murphy was the next finisher in order for Alma, placing 78
thwith an 18:16.
Benjamin Dickieson closed out the top 5 for Alma with a 19:30, placing 92
nd.
The Scots are back in action next Saturday at the Northwood Invite.
