Lansing, MI – Alma College Cross Country took part in the Lansing Invitational on Friday afternoon. The women finished 6
th of 14 teams, while the men finished 8
th of 19.
For Alma's men,
Braxton Lamey was the top finisher. The junior crossed the line in 27:13.4, and finished 35
th. The next finisher was freshman Jett Reimers, who debuted with a 28:05.1 to come home in 53
rd.
Noah Murphy continued his strong early season form, pumping in a 28:37.8 to take 72
nd. He was followed closely by
Haydin Sims, who finished 82
nd with a 28:53.6. Rounding out the top 5 for Alma was
Jacob Campbell. The senior crossed in 93
rd with a 29:13.7.
Alma's women were led by a pair of rookies.
Chloe Colton ran a 20:46.7, and was followed closely by
Lauren Brawt, who finished in 20:55.5. The pair came in 34
th and 35
th overall.
Sophia Sanford's 21:27.1 was good for 48
th place.
Caleigh Winters and
Sophia Dech rounded out the top 5 for Alma, and were neck and neck all the way to the line. Winters eeked out the slimmest of margins, crossing at 21:58.2, while Dech crossed at 21:58.8.
Alma's string of strong performances continues as the early weeks of the calendar roll by.
