Box Score Albion, MI – Alma College Women's Basketball headed to Albion to take on the Britons in the first round of the MIAA Tournament. The 5
th seeded Scots bowed out of the tournament, falling to the 4
th seeded Brits 76-50.
The home five scored first on a layup, and Alma responded with a three from
Brooke LeRoux to get on the board. Both teams scored consistently in the opening 5 minutes, with Albion leading 6-5. Alma fought to stay with the Brits, who were shooting red hot to open the game. Balanced scoring helped Alma to hold a lead late into the quarter, but Albion took that lead away at 1:05 to go, never giving it back. The teams were separated by a single point, Albion leading 17-16 after one.
Things got away from Alma in the second quarter. Albion continued to shoot well, outscoring Alma 13-1 to open the period as the Scots failed to match that pace. Alma was able to answer once they found their feet, but the damage had been done. The visitors trailed by as much as 15, but 5 points from
Taylor Sas cut the deficit to 10 at halftime, 37-27.
The hosts continued their torrid scoring pace in the third quarter. Albion shot 3-4 in the first half of the frame, also finishing at the free throw line. The Scots did their best to hang in, but the final half of the third wasn't friendly in terms of makes for Alma. The Scots shot 1-6, and their opposition finished on a 9-4 run to lead by 17.
The Britons drove the W home in the 4
th. Albion opened on a 13-3 run shooting 6-8 from the floor, and held on to end Alma's season, with the score reading 76-50.

Madelyn Weber (12 Points, 5 Rebounds) and
Brooke LeRoux (11 Points, 4 Rebounds, 3 Assists) led the way for Alma.
The Scots finish at 13-13, and look to build on the season's successes in 2024-25.
