ALMA, Mich. – The Alma College men's wrestling team hosted the final dual of the conference season on Thursday, February 15th against Albion College. The Scots honored six seniors for senior night before the match for their time and dedication to the program. The Scots then battled with the Brits though they were defeated by a final score of 40-15.
The Brits took the first two matches of the night by fall to jump out to a 12-0 lead, but Gabriel Sultzbach cut the Brits lead in half with his match. Sultzbach defeated Koen Eberhard by fall in just 41 seconds to put the Scots on the board and score the first win during senior night. Owen Atienza was the next Alma wrestler to grab a win, his coming by forfeit on the evening. Eddie Williams was the final Scots wrestler to be victorious on the evening as Williams battled all three periods with Bernard Harrison. Williams scored 11 points to Harrison's six to take the match by decision and give Alma three more team points.
The Alma seniors that were recognized on the night included Atienza, Trent Braman, Brenden Kurtze, Brody Miskimon, Samuel Rickman, and Will Vernier. Alma wishes the best for these gentlemen on their future endeavors after college.
Alma will now prepare for the Mid-States Invitational hosted by Trine University on Saturday, February 17th. Matches are set to begin at 9:00 AM.
