Boffman Takes Sole Possession of Single Season Steals Record as Men's Basketball Sweeps Adrian

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Alma College men's basketball team finished their final road trip of the regular season on Wednesday, February 14th, as they faced off against the Bulldogs of Adrian College. The Scots were able to score a win on Valentine's Day as they beat the Bulldogs by a final score of 67-60.

Both teams were able to put points on the board early as Alma struck first but were quickly answered by the Bulldogs. Each team traded scores for the first several minutes of the game as neither team took more than a one-point lead until eight minutes into the game when a layup by Xavier Glenn Jr. gave Alma a three-point lead. Adrian again responded quickly to make it a one-point game once again and then took the lead by one shortly after. Alma was then able to extend the lead to two possessions quickly after with a three from Donovan Collins. The Bulldogs stayed tight with Alma in the final minutes of the first half as again Adrian would battle back to take their own lead. Alma tied the game with two minutes left in the half as Glenn Jr converted on back-to-back layups, which would give the Scots a two-point lead shortly after. Following a Bulldog make, Collins knocked down another deep ball to put Alma up three, where they would hold the lead and head into the half up 32-29.

Adrian tied the game with the first basket of the second half as Michael Rightnowar cashed in on a three. After trading baskets and the lead, Alma then went on an 11-0 run to take their largest lead of the game to that point before the Bulldogs ended their scoring drought and brought the Scots lead back to single-digits. Alma again pieced together some stops with some offensive conversions to extend their lead to 14 off of a Landen Moore-Pierce three, hoping to pull away from the Bulldogs down the stretch. Alma had their largest lead of the game with eight minutes led tin the game as they led by 15 before Adrian held the Scots to two points over a six-minute stretch to bring their deficit down to six, in the final two minutes of the game. Late free throw and missed opportunities on offense for the Bulldogs would be enough for the Scots to hold on and score a late season win heading in to the final game of the regular season.

Five players for Alma scored in the double-digits including Tyshaun Walker (15), Collins (12), Glenn Jr (12) Nolan Boffman (10), and Moore-Pierce (10). Connor Riley scored eight points on the night and matched it with eight rebounds for the team high. Riley also led the Scots with three assists as Boffman collected five steals, a game high. With Boffman's fourth steal in the game, he moved into sole possession of first place for most steals in a season with 56, in his first season as a Scot.

Alma will now host The University of Olivet on Saturday, February 17th, inside Art Smith Arena for their annual Be Like Tye Game, honoring former men's basketball player and coach, Tye Edwards. The men's game will begin at 3:00 PM, following the conclusion of the women's game.
