UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Alma College track and field team opened up their 2024-2025 indoor season on December 6th and 7th as the Scots traveled to Saginaw Valley State University to compete in the SVSU Holiday Classic. The Scots saw positive results to start the season and hope to continue to build upon the early success.

On the women's side of the events, Lauren Brawt picked up where she left off from last season scoring a ninth-place finish in the long jump with a mark of five meters flat. Brawt also collected a fifth-place finish in the 400M run with a time of 1:01.20 to open the season. Jordan Fix collected a top ten finish as well with hers coming in the 800M run, clocking in with a time of 2:30.92, which was a personal best. Finishing just outside the top ten in the mile run, Sophia Sanford placed 13th as well as Caleigh Winters placed 17th, running times of 5:46.68 and 6:00.78, respectively. 

On the men's side, Aiden Aldrich highlighted the action as the freshman in his first collegiate event set a new school record in the 400M race. Placing 14th overall in a stellar run for the rookie, Aldrich clocked in with a time of 51.01 to take sole possession of the record which was set by Landon Jennings just last season. Noah Murphy picked up a 25th place finish in the 5000M run, finishing with a time of 17:14.73. Freshman Brady Crake and Leland Edelyn bth picked up 26th and 29th place finishes, respectively, in the 60M Hurdles races with times of 9.41 and 9.69. 

The young talent on the men's team showed good building blocks for the season to come as the returners on the women's side picked up where they left off from a season prior. The Scots will now have time off for the holidays before returning to action in the new year on January 17th, in Mount Pleasant, Michigan, at the Jack Skoog Open hosted by Central Michigan University.
