Kenosha, Wis. – The Alma College Men's Basketball team continued their non-conference schedule on Saturday, November 16th, traveling to Kenosha, Wisconsin, to take on Carthage College at Tarble Arena. Despite a strong second half three-point shooting performance, the Scots were unable to recover from an early deficit and fell to the Firebirds, 89-56.
Alma battled through a challenging first half, initially holding the game close before Carthage mounted a commanding a 19-2 scoring run over six minutes to widen the gap. The Firebirds shot 53.8% from beyond the arc in the first half and took a 48-25 lead into the break. Alma worked to close the deficit in the second half, but Carthage's scoring and defensive pressure kept the Scots at bay.
Sophomore,
Donovan Collins led the Scots with 13 points, shooting 6-18 from the field and contributing with a steal.
Paul Gadde added 9 points and 5 rebounds, while converting on 4-5 from the free throw line.
Jeremy Rosario chipped in with 7 points and 7 rebounds off the bench. Alma showed depth in scoring, with the bench contributing 26 points, including 5 each from
Duriel Mask Jr. and
Aidan Judsen. However, turnovers were a critical factor, as the Scots committed 19, leading to 21 points for the Firebirds.
Despite the loss, Alma displayed resilience and showed promise in their ball movement, tallying assists on nearly 50% of their shots. The Scots will look to rebound as they return to action on Wednesday, November 20th, hosting Manchester University for their Tartan Turn-Up game. The theme of the game is "Back In Black" and tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
